Vignettes
I like to explore my surroundings on foot and with a camera. I do not plan what I want to photograph, I simply walk, look attentively, and hope to be consumed by the conditions of a moment. However I realize that I cannot ever fully document such experiences. What I am able to capture on film are imperfect traces and so I use an imperfect camera. Known for its unpredictable blurring, light leaks, and double exposures, the Holga suits my uncertain explorations. The resulting images are vignettes. They are mere impressions; illusory and abstract, fanciful and confessional, memorable and imperfect fragments.
